INTRODUCTION

Room to Read is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help transform students in low-income areas of the world to become responsible, empowered and active citizens. They collaborate with local communities, partner organizations and governments to improve literacy in students and gender equality in education. If someone is interested in the values of Room to Read they can donate, start a fundraiser, join a chapter or invest.

My concept for this project was conveying the message to viewers quickly how impactful education is for children all over the world using a profession every child has dreamt of becoming.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

During this project I was assigned to work on two posters at once in a shorter amount of time. One poster usually took a month or so but since there were two assigned, the given time was cut in half.

I was aware I could attract people with visuals but I wanted them to stay and read the poster, maybe even the small print. So I challenged myself to create an impactful tagline that focused on what this organization wanted people to know using as little words as possible. Funny enough, the easiest way to do this is by writing down your full thought and then taking away irrelevant words.
